~ Professor Nelson, greeting the player
|
|
Professor Nelson, named Professor Larch prior to version 0.2.0, is a Professor who works at the Coromon Lab at Lux Solis Campus. He gives the player their starter Coromon and gives the player their first battle in the game's prologue.
Description
Professor Nelson appears as a man with a flattop haircut and a lab coat.
In game
The player first meets Professor Nelson in the Coromon Lab after being instructed to look for him by Larry. The professor greets the player. If the player opted for the full course at the reception, the professor then introduces the player to Coromon and circles the player, performing some "measurements". The player is instructed to step into a scanning machine designed to find a compatible Coromon. After the player steps into the machine, Professor Nelson asks the player five personality questions and feeds the answers into the machine. Then, three starter Coromon are presented to the player: Toruga, Nibblegar and Cubzero. After a starter Coromon is picked, Nelson gives the player the Type Manual, proceeds to warp them both to the battle grounds and battles the player with the starter Coromon that has a type advantage against the player's. After the player wins, he congratulates them, hands them an HP Cake (S) and SP Cake (S), then tells them to meet Professor Rigel at the Restricted Access Area in the R&D Lab and teleports back to his lab.

Differences to Previous Versions
In v0.1.16 and earlier versions, Dexter fought the player instead. Professor Nelson (then called Professor Larch) observes the player's first battle against their rival. After the battle, he congratulates the two trainers and tells Dexter to go to the Trainer Hub to heal his Coromon. After Dexter runs off, he gives the player an HP Cake (S), an SP Cake (S) and five Spinners, then returns to his lab.
